Active imagination and creative visualization have always been a vital part of the spiritual path in many of the world’s traditions, particularly in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism, and in the Western Mysteries.
Visualizations
Western Mystery meditations represent a creative departure from the idea of deities and angelic figures. They are more archetypal and less human-centric. They use form, shapes, movement, color to stimulate transformative energies within us.
What can you expect? Meditating on the honeycomb, Dr Who’s Infernal Pill machine, or the Great Pyramid and its secret chambers might give you some idea of the range.
Strengthening our creative visualization gives us greater power to interrupt negative arisings, and to imagine new and more diverse positive (joyful) arisings.
Star Group Meditations
In addition, small groups of people meditating together will use Star Group meditation. This creates a psychic platform from which to collectively explore the depths of inner and outer space. Star Group meditation has the power of using many minds instead of just one, which increases the range and power of our exploration, meditative vision, and joy.
During this retreat, we’ll follow Namgyal Rinpoche’s pioneering work with these practices.
About the Teachers:
We encourage everyone to find the “teacher within” that we can be. But, for almost everyone, we need to apprentice before we can master. Doug Duncan and Catherine Pawasarat apprenticed in the teachings of awakening for decades with their teachers. Between them they have been teaching for more than 30 years.
Their explorations and teachings are guided by four principles: spiritual growth, social connectivity, economic sustainability and environmental integrity.
Doug & Catherine teach from various wisdom traditions – including buddhadharma, Western Mysteries, modern science, art and nature – based on broad interests and a non-judgemental approach. We’ve lived and worked overseas for many years, and a planetary outlook is important to us. So is humour!

“The retreat I just did at Clear Sky was beautiful. The environment of the centre itself settles and energises me immediately. I can relax, let go and meditate with ease there, I can go deeper at Clear Sky, it’s such a supportive environment.”
